G'day, I'v been onto CEP for about a year and half now. I must say at times I've needed a cold spoon, cause it is soo good (I've come from the analogue world). Huge learning curve and now I've discovered this site, things just got even better.
Whilst I do play music myself, I've found some bizzare pleasure in recording other people - especialy when they play much nicer than I do.
Question - It may sound simple but does CEP have a quantize function?

CEP isn't a sequencer and doesn't employ many aspects of that realm into it's priorities list. As far as I know, CEP has no quantizing ability.

That's true, CEP doesn't come with quantize coz it doesn't support MIDI editing (adding is a yes). CEP is good but you should try Adobe Audition 1.5(new version of CEP). It comes with better features... pitch correction and so.

What i like most about CEP is the loading time... it's breeze!!!

Got it, thanks for the answer, I suspected it couldn't, but you've confirmed it for me. I guess in the perfect world we wouldn't even need to quantize, but it seems even very good musicians have slight variances in tempo/beat. One of the people I record prefers little or no alterations of time. He subscribes to the school of "that's how I play it, thats how it is." I can relate to this, but it's so easy and so tempting to move things that just aren't right.!!!
I'll have a look around for Audition, do you have an idea of the cost?

Here's a link to the current version of Audition (2.0). It's $350US. I bought a copy when it came out a couple of months ago (I started with its parent, Cool Edit Pro, back in '00). Great program, but lining up notes has to be done by hand. It's not impossible, but you gotta really want to do it. Personally I prefer the musicians learn to quantize themselves!
