Quality recording

I have a Fostex x 34 4 track tape recorder and am wandering if I ran it into a soundcard on my computer using the 4 track as a mixer would I be getting the quality sound of the soundcard and program I use or would I be getting the sound quality of the tape or would it be somewhere in between. You will get the sound of the tape recorder, if you are playing a tape. If you are only using the fostex as a mixer, you will get the sound of the soundcard, plus any sounds the mixer makes.Tape wont be involved that way.

i got a tascam that i used to use for that (recently ordered the behringer eurorack mx802 for 100 bucks...4 track mixer). With the tascam 4track i got not bad results. some sounds i assume from the 4-track, and with my not so great soundcard...well it adds up.
