If you were running 2 PZMs (stereo) in a room for a live recording of your band, what outboard unit before the tapedeck/computer would be the most beneficial :

compressor?
equalizer?
BBE maximizer?
other?

Some kind of preamp to raise the gain would be helpful. Also, be sure to place omni pattern microphones at least three feet apart, though this might not apply to your pzms because they are somewhat immune to phase cancellation.

I've already got the preamp, I'm just wondering if any of the above units will help the PZM signal at all......

I'd avoid all of those devices on the way in if the two mics are recording everything. Instead, concentrate on finding the place in the room where you'll get the balance you want. You can tweak it later.
Also, those pzms can have trouble getting enough bass. I've read that placing them on the floor can help this.

By the way, the BBE in my opinion sounds bad on multiple sources in most cases. It can be useful however for individual sounds e.g. toms, bass, vocals, depending on your goal.

None of the above.
