hello
Hey, I heard PZM mics were great for recording drums. Apparently, Lenny Kravitz just recorded an album using them. Unfortunatly, I guess Radio Shack sold them for like $40 but discontinued them. Does anyone know where I can pick a few up still? Does another manufacturer make them?

Well, usually you have to call your local crown dealer, if there is one near you. Crown does not usually sell direct. They do to employees, which is how I got some of my stuff, but I would contact crown via their website and ask for a dealer in your area. The PZM I have listed for 369 and went at stores for around 199, I think. I got mine used and much better than that, so check ebay or harmony-central for PZM mics used.

ok, the secret is out, look out ebay. In truth, they are a nice mic. I used one 8 years ago and I was impressed that this mic that said "realistic or radio shack" sounded so good.

actually, I got mine from a guy in a suburb of chicago. It was really cool. He came into a music store with two Crown PZMs. He complained about them not working due to improper voltage regulation. (Or something like that). I offered him 20$ for both of them, I had no idea what they were I was only 16 at the time. I just wanted the case they came in. And I had always liked Crown, since their factory is about 20 miles from my house. So, I took them home, read the instructions and trid it out with our bands board. They worked fine with the voltage regular in use. So I got two crown PZMs for 20$. I had to sell one when I was hard up for cash, but I got 120$ out of it. So, anyway, that is my stupid story. I know no one will learn anything from it, but oh well.
