I have Pro Audio 9 (with an SBLive! card) and I'm trying to put reverb on a soundfont, which means it's in midi. I asked for advice at another forum and its turning out to be a hassle. Can somebody simply tell me how to do it VERY simply?
So far this is what I tried, I'll quote the person who gave me advice and tell you the problem I had with their advice. This is what they told me in their first post.
"Go to your midi track - piano roll in Cakewalk and select Reverb Send Level from the Control ( up left )
( Maybe it's called: External Effects Send depending on you midi .ins file. )"
Me-Now the only thing I could find was reverb depth, no "Reverb Send Level" or "External Effects Send" maybe this doesn't matter?
"Draw- Set it to 127 and afterwards press spacebar so the value is played and sent to the soundcard.
Put something on loop so you can experiment with the reverbs."
Me-Boy was this a problem! I use draw and everytime I try to fill the grid the lines come out different each time. In another words when I use draw it will fill up the whole grid, which is good, BUT as soon as I let go of the left click on the mouse it doesn't fill up the entire grid. I get erratic lines, nothing that fills up the entire grid.
"I have an SbLive! with the newest drivers available and usually use the Concert Hall reverb. In orchestral pieces i like to pump the value up to 50-70% on more rock-percussion stuff, about 20-30 %
Even if a soundfont is poorly looped , with 60% reverb no one can notice especially if it is amongst other instruments. "
Me-Hell I didn't notice what he was talking about here. I guess he was talking about the eax panel as I found out afterwords.
Later I said I tried the advice he gave me and didn't notice any reverb in my track. This is what the person posted the second time.
"You have to have reverb on the EAX panel enabled as well, try setting it to 60% so you can see a big difference..
One thing you have to look for, is that the SBlive and AUdigy wavetable ( the general GM output) cannot have reverb. So only soundfonts can that means."
Me- Ok, I found the EAX panel and I set it to like 100%, but I still don't notice a difference on my midi track. As a matter of fact the only difference I notice is when I use AOL and when it says "welcome" it put reverb on that!
I don't know what he was talking about in the second sentence about SBLive and AUdigy not having reverb.
Can anybody help me out here? I thought it would be alot easier than this.
