So when will the results be in?

Who knows. Maybe a month or two, depending on the number of submissions and the time it takes to evaluate them.
I'd suggest that 90% of them could be knocked out by the producers just having to listen to certain key sections in the song for a few seconds. It's the remaining 10% that will take the time to evaluate.

When do we find out the results? I uploaded to the cloud as well as my soundcloud which is just my name (stevemalmo). I guess I can't link because I'm still a forum noob...

I mixed in Logic 9 with both native and UAD plugs. Tried to play up the electronic element of the production except for the vocals which I felt were purposefully recorded so they did not need much processing -- simple panning and "gluing" with compression/reverb (Fairchild, LA-2A parallel compression). Because the mix featured many different synths, drum sounds, guitars, etc. I used Logic's Delay Designer to create a sense of depth and cohesion between these supporting elements (which I panned to the sides). Light Reverb was applied to the vocal stacks as a send to an AUX with the Lexicon 224 plug placed on it. I got a kick out of the "only a dog could hear FX" which I pitched down and destroyed with a "slow down" fade out. I really enjoyed working on a NY style production and the way that it was arranged inspired me to be more "organized but creative" with my own productions. Overall, I enjoyed the contest and I'm looking forward to hearing the winner's -- until then I'll be "Howlin'" AawoooOOooo

Thanks, Daniel! Yeah, that was one of my things I felt when I heard it next, which was two days after I submitted it, since I was so busy and out of town. I was probably suffering from a bit of ear fatigue from mixing it in one session too. I did try to make them a bit soft, but not as soft as they appear to me now. I can't even remember if I parallel compressed them or not, which I certainly would have, if I didn't. They definitely need to pump a bit more. Like I said, I tried to downplay the dance element a wee bit, just to give the vocal a little more space to meander, and I also added even more verb and delay to the main guitar part, because I really wanted a texture. I knew there'd be a ton of submissions, and a lot of them I heard really weren't any different than the original. Maybe that was the point of all this, but I wanted to do something unique, even if I lost, it was just fun.

Hi Randall! Your mix is very creative and well done. If there's anything to comment it might be that the drums feels a little bit weak compared to the vocals. But your mix is one of the best sounding and the most creative one for sure. :)

Hey Guys -- great job to all!!! I had a lot of fun mixing this song. Amber has a great voice. I posted my mix, but I can't figure out how to post it here. How do you guys do that???

Hi, first you've got upload your mix to soundcloud, then you can copy the URL without "http" into a post, because you can't post URL's in the forum before you have posted ten times.

Mixing from ukraine

Hi! My name is Max, I'm from Ukraine! I am 18 years old, working in the studio sound producer T Session. Very happy to work with this session, Hovlin excellent singing! Use a lot of plug-ins, most waves, AOM, Nomad Factory and a lot of different. I wanted more latitude and space in the track. I'm happy with the result, you now the judge! Thank you)

And sorry for the bad English)

how selected participants, enough to download audio mix Pure cloud?

Thanks Panchocontreras....I guess I need a soundcloud account.

Anyone have trouble with the subsonic rumble on the kicks? I didn't notice it until I listened to my mix with a subwoofer in my car. Instead of a solid thud, I heard a very low (about 35 Hz) and sustained bass note. I had to use two high pass filters to get rid of it. They were also very boomy and I had to radically cut around 180 to 200 Hz. This I also couldn't hear in my headphones, but heard it on my cheap computer speakers. I'm pretty new at this game, and learned a lot mixing this song. And a big one is to check your mix in a lot of speakers, and also to re-calibrate your ears once in a while with a reference mix (a song that you know well). I found myself thinking my mix sounded good after hearing nothing else for hours. But when I listened to it after a break, and listening to other music, I realized I had to tweak a lot of things. Good luck all!!

I think it's a great mix :thumbs up:
Stereo is well balanced, low end is punchy, drums and voice are at the right place.
I listened to a lot of mix over here and a lot have the battery very forward.
Yours not and I like it...
Bravo

Thank you for your comment and nice words :).
I think it's a question of buss compression - for me it's a very important part of sound.;)

But I decided to send 2version even more compressed:

What do you think - how do they compare?

Good song, fun to mix. My approach to the mix was to just use the Pro Tools 11 and its standard plugins and monitor the mix with a pair of Sony MDR-7506 headphones. Any constructive criticism would be appreciated, thanks and enjoy.

Chris

Here is a link to the mix on my sound cloud account.
