Does any one know when the results are in and if we will get to hear all mixes or maybe just the winners?
 
I wasn't able to send you a link because of the less than 10 messages, but I saw your trick, so here we are, my mix, hope you'll enjoy it :)

As I said in my first message, mixed in ze box, with cubase 7.5, some stock plugins, waves, slate digital, flux::, soundtoys, Kush audio, Softube..

Thank you! ) Yep, but as I sad before, I tried to make more dynamic differences between Verses and Choruses) Also a spent a lot of time with Reverbs )) I wanted to create deep sounding mix) Like you are in the forest far from a city at 3-00 AM at winter time))

Hey guys this is the mix I entered, just did a tad bit more automation than the first post. Let me know what you think.


 
Hi everybody,

I entered the contest on the very last day because I discovered it less than 24 hours before it ended, I had not a lot more than 5 hours to work on it. I did my best with the time I had.

I used a few special tricks on my mix that fit that song according to me, such as :
- special kind of crusher on the hihats so they sound clear
- fake sidechain effect on some specific instruments so the song sounds more powerful
- real sidechain so the kick hits more
- automated fake reverb on the vocals to emphasize the howling shout
- spectral autopan on the first gated synth so it fills the room
- resonant mixing on the doubled instruments

The rest was just classic eqing, panning and compression. I used my favorite plugins, nothing more to say.

I had a real trouble with my de-esser, so some vocals are left with too much hi frequencies. I just couldn't correct the last details in time. And moreover, I did not have the time to understand what happened with the "dog" FX, and I found out that one of my tracks was undermixed, but too late.

I'm not new to it, but it's the first mix contest I try, and that's the very first mix I finish using my new monitors, I'm still trying to get used to them. I won't upload my mix on Soundcloud because I'm afraid this could be seen as a copyright infrigement (some of my own signed remixes have already been blocked on Soundcloud because presumed copyrighted by the labels), but I've heard a lot of good mixes here. Man I wish I could go back and tweak one more thing. Oh well toooooo late!!! Still happy with my mix though.

Nice mix!) But for my taste - i think it is too linear and a little bit more of volume automation between parts of song could help! And there is some resonance frequency on Kick around 300-500Hz) I think its too hearable in first verse) But it is only my opinion!)
 
I tweaked couple of things in my mix and want to show it to you, guys! )) Really want to know your opinion about it! ) The main objective for me was to create some emotional dynamics in mix - so I used a lot of automation in groups of instruments between parts of the song :) Also at the end of song I drowned the Add Libs Vocals in Big Verb for "grand finale drama" :)))

Hi, I heard your mix and I want to say good job, there's a couple of things that I found that would improve it.
- Would be nice to compress a little bit more the snare and add it more reverb, to spread it more.
- The chorus need to be louder to trap the listener, I Think more compression on the bass would do it.
- Spread more the stereo image would nice aswell.
- Finally, the Dog FX it's loud, but it doesn't matter.
