Hey guys , Here's my entry ! Had alot of fun mixing this track . Went in a slightly different direction, with regards to the overall feel of the song . Worked on Pro Tools 10. Worked with CLA Plugins from Waves to shape my kick tone and drum sounds in general, along with API 2500 on the reverb return of the kick FX,as well as Transient Designer The BFA for the snare and clap. D-verb for the drum reverb. CLA 2A on the Vocals. Maserati GTR on the Guitar Track , with a hint of Parallel Compression. MetaFlanger and MondoMod on the Hi Hats and the Percussive Elements and Glitch Effects. Experimented a bit with the Synth Track to make it more prominent. A transient Designer, Slight EQ and CLA 2A with Parallel Processing with Maserati GTI with Chorus. The experimental part was sending different Reverb Returns to Left and Right , with both Pitched Slightly higher and lower to achieve harmonies, with a mono delay for depth. CLA 2A for Vocals and D-verb for the Reverb, with the Reverb return feeding the H-Delay. For Stereo Buss Processing, had the Slate VCC on there, with the Slate MU Compressor set to "slow and Punchy", with a few modifications to the Parameters. After Which, for mastering used a hint of the API 2500 for -1dB of compression along with Ozone 5 for the Stereo Imaging and Maximizing.
Definitely Learnt alot from this experience . Listening to it a day after, felt like a couple of things could be worked on yet again, and will get to that. But nonetheless, this is my entry for the competition. Please do let me know what you guys think ..

This was such a blast!! Thanks to everyone who contributed. I learned so much about building a pop song from studying these audio tracks.

The song rocks, the tracks are amazing, the vocals are hypnotic and the groove just won't quit.

I mixed in Logic Studio 9, and used a combination of plugins from Sonnox, UAD, Waves, as well as stock Logic plugs. I established a sub-channel for all track groups, and set up a few reverbs, delays, lo-fi, and modulation Auxiliary channels and bussed to my heart's content.

I used some parallel processing, but the Sonnox Inflator seems to accomplish a similar result without the fuss. De-essing is something I have little experience with. I work hard to avoid tracking heavy "ess's", but do realize that out there, that isn't always possible. The UAD Studer 800 is mind-blowingly good. I used that on the output channel. The trick really is in getting a good sound, a good blend, and knowing when to just leave it alone and move on. This is a huge learning curve, but what an exciting one!

Again, this was most instructional. Thanks to all!!

Hi!

I like the idea you have but for me it sound more like an experiment and technical achivements that maybe not really did the song justice. But thats just my taste :-)

EDIT: Specially I think it was to wet for my taste :-)

Nice mix! But for my taste - I think that chorus should be more powerful and spatial than verses)

I mixed this song before i heard the original and man it sounds way different. i wish there was a way to hear other peoples mixes.
does anyone know when the winners are announced?

i mixed the song before i even heard the original and damn it sounds completly different...wth?!
is there a way to hear anyone elses mixes?
also when are the winners announced?

sounddetour, almost everyone post their mixes here via soundcloud)

I think, that contest's jury will listen all of numerous mixes at least with one week) Becouse, I think that it is really difficult to listen all of that mixes in one or two days and stay objective ) But I don't know for sure)
