I feel like my mix got overlooked. New pages come too quickly on this forum.

Sounds good. Everything sits well in its place. Like what you did with the vox and drums in particular. Wasn't too crazy about the picked guitar during the verse, maybe somewhat of a personal preference. Not that it isn't mixed well here, I thought from a production standpoint it kinda clashed with some of the other elements in the song, which is probably why I mixed it quieter than most.

If you look and listen to the snare tracks in solo with the beat, you'll notice there's an offset between where the snare samples start. It's not much but found adjusting them made the sample stick out less and feel more natural gave it a little tighter sound.

Thanks! I just tried nudging them together and you're right, it makes the sample blend in way better. I think this will allow me to rely less on reverb and more on the sample to get what I was after. If I get time.

Hey everbody,

I did the contest and I would love to get any feedback/comments/criticisms on my mix! I mixed ITB with digi and a few waves plugs. I don't own any outboard unfortunately (yet!). I hope I am a contender among all the mixes submitted

I uploaded my version as well now.
Mixing DAW was Pro Tools 11 HD and I used plugins from the following companies: UAD, Fabfilter, Sonnox, Soundtoys, McDSP, Waves, iZotope, Softube, Plugin Alliance, Native Instruments.
To be honest: I didn't like the song in the beginning too much, but now I think it's a pretty good Pop number. I was a little bit surprised, that some of the raw tracks had already FX included so I didn't apply any more processing to some of these tracks tracks.
Apart from this I wanted the drums to sound a little bit trashy and Lo-Fi to make the sound a little bit more unique (compressed the "Beat" track to hell ) I also tried to make the vocals pretty airy and dreamy (lot of reverbs and delays)
From the keyboards and FX tracks I only did filtering and maybe some Pan changes.
Some sounds do not sound anymore as they used to sound on the raw tracks (tried to make them more airy and dreamy to glue with the vocal tracks)
In the end some automation work and polishing.

I just uploaded my mix (using the moniker 'strchm'). Only could spend a couple of days on it. I used stock plugins in Logic Pro X which I found rather difficult (for some reason I find it hard to dial in the eq and compressors in Logic vs using Cubase or waves plugins). Oh well, I'm still rather a novice at 'pop' mixing and thought it was great practice. Hope the judges like it! Thanks.
