I am planning to buy some studio monitors in the next 5 to 7 days. I have looked all over for good deals and quality gear. I know the really good stuff is gonna cost me plenty of $$$ but Im only planning to spend $300 - $400. Im considering any and all advice that anyone can offer. Im just looking for the highest quality possible for my price range.

thanks
Jeremy

This topic has been covered... do a search for monitors

Nothing wrong with new and exciting topics covering opinions on various merchandise you are considering, but here again is a topic already well covered. Without even doing a search on the first page of this forum are several topics covering monitors. You're best bet might be to read up on the Wharfedale Pro Monitors outlined in the topic of the same name.

I bought a pair and haven't even had a chance to check them out, but the reviews I've read on them have been pretty good, and for the money they seem like an outstanding buy. Read the topic and contact Deepwater about obtaining a pair.

well have you been able to check out any monitors in particular? what kind of music do you plan on doing?

this will be my first set of real studio monitors so no, I dont have any experiance with them. I have recently recorded a band whose sound might compair to maybe blink 182 (they actually use blink's signiture guitars), and just last weekend I started working with a band who is way heavier. To give you an idea of their style, some of their covers include Metalica, Rage against the Machine, Creed, and AudioSlave. I guess I should have known, but I didnt realize that style of music would play a big role in what monitors to get.

For cheap give a listen to some Event 20/20 passives..should be about 300.00

Wharfedale Diamond Pro 8.2 actives are going for $275 (do a search) and are worth 3 times that price.

In this or any price range you should definitly check out the Yorkville YSM-1s. The Yorkville YSM-1 are around 250 for the pair. I like these monitors alot and I also have Mackie HRS 824s and Yamaha NS10s. The Yorkvilles are very nice.

Yo Chickery-Chick Cha la, Cha la:} et. al.

For a few dollars LESS, you can also get the KRK ST8's, passive.

They are better than the Yorkvilles. I sold my Yorks with no trouble when I got the KRKs.

KRKs have an 8 inch woofer; Yorks only have 6.5 and it does make a difference.

But, as suggested, there is mucho info on monitors if you want to search.

Happy Halloween
Green Hornet    :D

Looks like it will be the Wharfedale's.....Deepwater gave me a hell of a price and I hear a lot of good stuff about them, mainly on here...guess we will see...
thanks
