How does this set up look?

• 1GHz PowerPC G4
• 512MB DDR266 SDRAM - 1 DIMM
• 80GB Ultra ATA drive
• Optical 1 - Combo Drive (DVD/CD-RW)
• Optical 2 - None
• NVIDIA GeForce4 MX w/64MB DDR

I will be running digi 001 on it (only purpose for new computer)

a friend had mentioned just getting a g3 and amping out the ram/ space with the saved loot.

any thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks-
Shawn

A 1gig CPU is entry level these days. I would beef up to at least 2gig

Your always better off to buy a new Mac with minimal RAM/storage, and add yourself from the aftermarket. Apple charges too much for RAM & HDD's.

Make sure you check the Digi web site & the DUC to verify there are no known issues with the exact model Mac your buying before you commit.

That said it looks like what you've got there will run the 001 fine. Just remember that IDE drives, while good performance per $, use more of the host processor. If lot's of plugs and vitual synths are in your plans you may want to consider a SCSI setup for storage.

Apple doesn't make a 2 gig CPU yet. Dual 1.42's, but no 2ghz.

I'm running a digi 001 on a Mac G4 466mHZ. It kicks butt. You'll be cruising with 1GHz.

thanks guys

it looks like i'll be going with the baseline g4 :)

can't afford to go any higher that 1ghz right now
