I am looking to purchase an audio interface so that my band can begin to do some recording on our own without having to purchase studio time. At the moment we have a Mac G4 that is set up for firewire with extra hard drives, etc., so the sound card is the obvious next step, but we don't want to spend a whole lot and are looking for a good deal (we got the mac for $900 canadian from a friend).
My question then is: Does anyone know of any sound cards that will allow us to record at least 8 tracks simultaneously, with high quality sound that are priced reasonably. Used is fine..I have been looking at the MOTU 828, not the mkII model but the original...any thoughts/feelings on this model? Also if anyone knows WHERE (ie websites) these things can be purchased at good prices that would be much appreciated as well.
Thanks for your help,
-Dan
