Punching in & out - foot controller?

Such a thing for Sonar? I'd like to be able to use my foot to start/stop the recording process like the good old days. If yes, what products are available? And what the heck are they called? Foot controllers?

I've been playing with getting Sonar to 'learn' my keyboard, but recording doesn't seem to be linkable...?

Well, it is possible, here's what I would do:
Be shure that I didn't want to record MIDI at the same time, I would set up the footswitch (the "hold" pedal) to do that using Keybindings (Options -> Keybindings).

Or if you have a MIDI-footswitch controller (such as this), using keybindings you can controll anything you like...
