Hi.

I've never used the punch in function on my 424mkii. What type of footswitch does it need? Can I use something like the tap tempo switch that I use for my guitar delay pedal (normally open, no click), or do you need a clicking pedal? I can't think of exactly what those pedals are called - "clicking" is probably not the right technical term. Or do I need a special tascam product?

I'm using my keyboard sustain pedal and it seems to punch in/out just fine.

perfect! that's what I had hoped.

On a related note, I've never used the audition function to set in and out points. How tight do the points "stick" to the tape? If you rewind and play, rewind and play, etc., over and over, do the in/out points move at all?

No,they are pretty consistent.Just make sure you review the start/stop(rewind)before you start punching in/out.
Really useful function with the limited 4-tracks.
