Anyone here use this music licensing service? If so, did you get "Greenlit" and what happened after that? (If you don't know what I'm talking about, there seem to be online music licensing services popping up lately, including Pump Audio, Music Dealers, etc., where, if your music is approved for submission, it could possibly get placed in commercials, soundtracks, and the like.)

Yes I am. I have a friend who submitted one of his albums to that site.

He's had placements in 3 or 4 TV shows --- things like Man Vs. Nature. I think they've actually placed the same bit of music in several different shows.

The album he submitted was a kind of alternative rock album (not instrumental), so the bit they used was from an instrumental blues rock intro to one of the songs.

I'm getting ready to submit a bunch of shorter instrumental pieces, just because I think that stuff will have more luck in getting placed. If you watch all those shows like Nanny 911, Trading Spouses, etc. --- all really crappy TV --- they always have little instrumental tunes going on.

Getting placed in a show like that for 30 seconds or so doesn't pay too much --- maybe $50 or $100 or so (depending on the show I guess), but if you're able to get a lot of placements, that can add up. Plus I'm guessing it could only increase your chances of moving on to bigger things.

Thanks for the info, famous beagle. I see you're from Mt. Pilot...uh, I mean Pilot Mountain :-) I'm in the Triangle. Glad to see someone here is familiar with this company - I got greenlit so I think I'll do the actual CD submission next and see what happens. Gives me motivation to lay down some tracks and I'm a master, of sorts, of short instrumental pieces.

Good luck with that! I'm going to be doing the same thing soon! :)

Where in the triangle are you? I'm new out here, so I don't automatically know what that means. :)

Triangle area of NC is Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill.

Good luck with your song submissions, let us know how it goes. I'll do the same.
