I get when I try to record. I've changed the buffer size to everything, but I still get the error.

"The audio device buffer underflowed. If this occurs frequently, try decreasing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the playback engine panel or remove other devices from the audio firewire bus. (-6085)"

What are your specs on your PC?

Are you using an external firewire hard drive?

Digi's answer to your error message:

DAE - 6085

You can encounter this error when using an unsupported Firewire drive

Firewire drives must have the Oxford 911 Bridge Chip
7200 RPM with 10 ms or less seek time

This error has been seen repeatedly with Acom Firewire drives

If drive proves to be supported
- Try partitioning the drive
- Limit the open ended Rec allocation found in the Setups> Preferences > Operations tab > limit to 10 mins

Update me on your system, and I'll try to help more.

This could be it too:

When trying to record in Pro Tools on Windows XP I get messages telling me to increase or decrease the hardware buffer size with error numbers -6089, -6085, -9093.

In one case the audio drive was set to operate in PIO mode. Setting the drive to operate in DMA mode resolved the problem.

To do this, go to Start menu > Control Panel > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers. Right click on Primary IDE Channel or Secondary IDE Channel (choose the one your hard drive is connected to) choose Properties, then Advanced Settings. Make sure the Transfer Mode is set to "DMA if available" and that the Current Transfer mode is not PIO. A restart may be required for any changes to take effect.

Well, I don't have an external drive, but I'll try that later post and see what happens.
