I'm looking at getting a Windows* laptop purely for portable audio work. Having never used (nor owned) a laptop before, either for audio or anything else, I have some questions:
I only need analog 2in/2out, line level. Don't need mic pres etc. Can anyone recommend and internal soundcard, if not, a breakout (portable) soundcard - that's compatible with PT on a laptop?
Also, any advice about the spec of the machine would be handy. I won't be running any softsynths, nor too many plug-ins, as this is for audio work only, not music. For example, maybe 4 x stereo tracks, 2 x mono tracks, some EQ, compression and a limiter over the top.
