So glad I discovered this website, since I believe it will help me in my stumble filled road with Home Recording.

I'm not necessary looking for that "Radio" sound. More Lo-fi, but still sticking to "classic" intentions. (silly vocabulary)

This has some of my tracks on it for free download.

Saturn Valley Records's sounds on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free

Pish Posh, Rollerblades, Snowflake, Forms, and Underaged (and Overwhelmed) were tracks I finished last week as a sort of 1 man band project to see where I am at in development. Actually, all but one of these songs are done entirely by myself I believe.

and I am Aware that my tempo is off at times and such, but i don't mind.

I am using a Presonus Firestudio and Cubase 5 for programs and mixing. (still learning how to use Cubase as well.)

Thanks everyone!

Hmmmm. Too many tracks to look over here. I'm surprised no-one's jumped in yet and said "pick one and i'll pass judgement on it".... or words to that effect as usually happens.

Missing Girl: The mix is a bit dull, vocals are a bit hard to hear clearly. Possibly need to automate the levels, maybe even a touch of vocal compression in there too. There's at least one mic-pop that you need to fix too.
If you are going for lo-fi, I think you may have over done it a bit, the whole thing needs to be clearer sounding.

Pish Posh: why is this in mono? you need to exercise the pan-pots! The piano is too much, it overwhelms the mix. you need to work a bit more on your automation and compression to get you mixes to fit together better.

Start panning stuff, and that will make an immediate difference to the clarity of the recordings.

To be absolutely honest, there's probably enough stuff to fix in those two tracks without going on to the rest. That's generally why people only post one at a time, you'll get much more helpful feedback if you just have one post with one mix, fix that one and learn from it, then move on to the next one.

that makes sense! I'll go ahead and focus on one mix and then use that for presentation.
