Unless you're very, very serious, don't get the Les Paul. If you DO get a Les Paul, get the best.
If I had a choice (which I don't), I'd get the SG.

tough choice ........ for me it was a les paul ....... for you ?? the best thing you can do is play as many as you can .......... i would be willing to bet that my guitar in your hands will sound completeley different than it does in my hands ........ you need to find what suits your style ........ only you can do that ....... take your time and play em all think about your choice before you lay down any cash ..... it took years to find the one for me ...... well worth the wait
Good point. I found my guitar awhile ago. My American Fender Strat plus with Texas specials is MY guitar. It feels like home. Nothing else does. I have owned like 10-12 guitars over the past 10 years. Always go back to the beat strat from the 90s. But, I am getting sick of the tone, I want something heavier. I'm gonna have to spend some time at the music store.
Thanks!
Definately look into Agile then. Anything 3000+.
They're made in Korea (Epiphones are made in Korea, and their quality control has already far surpassed Gibson.), and the feel and playability is spot on with a Gibson. So if you're worried about the comfort, just go out and play a Les Paul. Check out the reviews on Harmony Central.
That's cool that Amazon sells them now, I didn't know that...What makes you want P-90s though?

seriously the dumbest thing I've read in a while,
Now, that Agile I was talking about earlier, will give you the best of both worlds. Build quality of Epiphone and part quality of Gibson. You can't lose.
But I don't want a crap guitar. Or, a Epiphone. I wouldn't be caught dead with that commie guitar.![]()
That's rather ignorant, but okay.
If money isn't an object then, you should go ahead and look used for a vintage Gibson. I stand by what I said earlier about the LP being the most versatile of your choices, and you apparently MUST have the real deal, which is fine, but I urge you to look at nothing newer than early-90's.
Why, because that's when you were born? You would be wise to learn something before you share your vast knowledge and experience with the world my man.....
