We are almost done, now we open the floor for suggestions. This version is the Cincy Kid Version, there will also be a Female Version by true probably tomorrow. Be picky, we want to get this right and authentic.

Gorty, Dogman -guitars
MS Hilarious-Bass
Tony-Banjo ( so far)
DK Keyboards, drum programming, elec fiddle
Cincy Kid-vocals

The lead solos will change, gorty retracked and anton has some too

this was a lot of fun with some very talented friends

Sounding good david!!!

The violin seems muffled most of the time david, as if you are holding back. I think you could mirror the title of this song with your fiddle/violin. :D

I think when it is the violin's parts and it's few lead spots, that it should be just as strong as the guitar lead is in it's solo. The fiddle sounds good in this song. Come out david, come out!! :D

Getting there!! :) :) :)

Everyone is doing an excellent job!! Kudos!!! :) :) :)

Can't wait to hear the new lead solos!! :)

the violin is a placeholder. I am gonna play REAL violin as opposed to my cheapass electric which I hate. I couldnt record because it was too noisy.

I have to work all day, I should have a chance to record something tonite.

Re-tracked and Happy

I have posted my re-tracked licks and solo..........I am happier with the whole re-tracked guitar. I went through and re-tracked the whole guitar work right the way through using the vocals as my in and out guide!

I look forward to hearing the full mix. The stereo guitar track and a full band mix with the re-tracked guitar is posted in the other thread!

Thanx Dave

The Cincy Kid

Hey Dave,

Ultimately the decision is yours but I personally prefer the re-tracked guitars as opposed to the first tracking, the intro, the licks and the solo have just been more thought out and crafted to suit. I don't think the solo works at all by chopping the two up. Also in my opinion the lead lick under the vocals which pre-ludes the solo is all part of the package.

As a suggestion, I would either drop the guitar lick out completely as you have done in a few spots so as not to tread on the vocals, or drop the volume on the lick whilst the vocal is leading and then when the vocal pulls up bring the guitar back up.

Maybe.....If you are interested, as a suggestion, listen to the mix I put up with the re-tracked guitars and all the other guys work. I have no qualms in pulling certain licks out because they can make it too busy, but I definitely have my leanings towards the re-tracked guitars.

I make these suggestions in constructive criticism, as I know you (as well as myself) want this to be the best it can be with the talent everyone has displayed in creating this tune!

Thanx Dave :)

I think we can surely find a version that everybody is happy with :D

The Beginning: I simply like the Way you begin it on the first tracking. To me the second is certainly the more impressive virtuousic track but It sounds like the opening of a Van Halen tune instead of Country.

As for the rest, as you see I am very careful not to get in the way of the vox. I either dropped them or pushed em low. You want me to keep the long licks under him then push the fader up when it's solo time? I think I can do that. :D

In General for this tune I am trying to have the vox front and center with little getting in his way. I will try again later. MAybe your new beginning will grow on me, I am trying to keep it authentic and I usually dont hear those licks in Country. Dont worry, We will ultimately compromise a bit. I agree, SPEAK UP if you dont like ANYTHING! I wanna get it right!!!.

Yeah, definitely some of the fills are too hot, they sit top of the vocal--0:36, 1:06, 1:29. The others are OK. I would fade the solo in just a little. Keys, rhythm guitar could be a bit stronger in some places (1:03, 1:11, 2:43ish), sometimes it's almost just me & the drums.

In country these days, often there are two leads, one clean and one dirty. Or leads will trade between fiddle and guitar. When you cut your real fiddle parts, consider opening with fiddle rather than guitar, see what works better.

Also we need to hit that last note tight.

I like it...it's turning out pretty cool....more of a smokin country rocker than I had thought. I really like it. Some very tasty leads in it, and it has a lot of depth. Cincy's vox are just great.....They give it a nice touch. I think it would be cool if you could put something together having Cincy and True trade off spots, and do the backing for each other...kind of a bastardized duet. Almost like they are speaking about each other.....

But, I really like this. The punchy bass is way cool. It adds a good thump to the rhythm. And all teh little intricasies(sp) are cool....you hear them ever so subtley. Cool tune. :D

Hey Dave,

Firstly I agree with your take on the intro lick, more technical but maybe not the right particular styling for this tune, I was going for something a little more tasty, maybe the mark was over stepped and I entered into Van Halen Country. :)

I agree about not stepping on the vocals, that's a no no in any song, I think the issue at hand is what to use and what not to use. Perhaps the majority of the licks that are played while the vocals are happening should be dropped.

I like the little overlaps between the vocals and guitar as long as the vocals are given priority at all times. I think the re-tracked solo is the better of the two especially with the lead in lick which is played underneath the vocals, it just seems to be not so abrupt in entering as much as the first solo.

I had trouble really being able to tell what was completely cut and what was lowered because I can hear both guitar tracks (???) playing here and there! I can't really comment too much on the guitar mix until we have a set tracking which will be used.

I think Dogman's and MS's work is sounding great and both bass and rhythm guitars could be bought up in the mix slightly as MS mentioned in his post, maybe a little more lows could be added to Dogman's guitar!!
The suggestion of opening the tune with fiddle could well deliver the punch that would keep this song catergorised in the Country/Rock genre... :)

I am looking forward to hearing some of your handy work with your fiddle, that should add some spice! A trade off between fiddle and guitar as mentioned could work very well also!

I will post a mix tomorrow if I get the chance with a suggestion as to what guitar licks to: cut completely, lower in volume whilst vocals are present and the ones to use, be it the original or re-tracked version.

I know you probably think I am being a pain in the ass, but anyone who has collaborated with me before will hopefully tell you that I really do enjoy my music and take it seriously.....Once again I want this tune to be something that everyone who has contributed to it in any way or form can be proud of their involvement in the whole project,......and most importantly yourself and of course Cindy have to be happy with the result!

I think I have rambled on enough!

Re-tracked guitars!

Hello to David and everyone else involved in the project.
I was following all progress almost from beginning and it was really fun to watch (listen) its development.
If I have to be PICKY then I would get rid of that BANJO (Or whatever it is in the background at 1.37)
There are some similar piano parts too I would get rid of.
I’m sure I misunderstood title of the project and I was expecting more country song with ½ rhythm and bass playing 1-2, 1-2, 1-2 (if there is any possibility to understand what did I mean with that uh uh). Anyway I liked song turned in this other direction.

I think you mean the usual country bass line where you drop a fourth on the 2. Trust me, wouldn't have worked here.

That's come a long way since the original track you posted.

Fun Jam.

Let me just be the first to say that the the Sound effects (police etc) are awesome. :p

This should be on apl's National Review top 50 conservative song list.

I think from the onset of this project being a country /rock type tune, the elements of country in the true sense have only really been present in the lyrical content. To me it has the George Thorogood/Georgia Satellites vibe which is maybe a Southern type rock!........  :)

This turned out great.

I`ve been lurking for some time in the colab thread, I wanted to wait untill it was finsished before posting.

First of all, I think you guys took to the skies.

When I first heard the melody track, I never pictured this result.
Smashing contributions from all parts.

David K, I have to say you do a mean job behind the faders, your proclamation of being a king, will not be disputed on my behalf.

Ms; Great job on the bass.

Dogman; Nice shaft\country style---you tha man

Gort; Great shreddin man, I think all the versions of your axe work has been cool, the last one was no1 though, great work.

Cincy; Extremely cool vox man, you`ve got a very nice nerve in your voice, kinda soul "comitments" style.

True; I`m glad you decided to do this, your voice is bedazzling, and its pure rock`n roll.
Man the Shed must be good vocal booth :D

The guy on banjo; sorry mack forgot your name, kudos to you for bringing in some folk into this jam, very cool indeed.
gave it a very true feel.

The girl who made the song; nice tune, I bet you must be thrilled with the results.

A Big thumbs up for all of you :)

May there be many more

:D Ya know Nak, that shed/vocal booth sounds like a prurdy good idea!!! I can do my days work and sing while I work!! :D :D :D

Thanks so much for your kind words Nak!! I am going to retrack the vocals hopefully without the volume flucuations and heavy breathing!! I also need some work on the timing.

I am having a ball with this song. It is pure fun!! Again thanks Nak!! When are you going to get involved in one of these fun projects? :)

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Highest charts position: # 47 ( 15,962 songs currently listed in Classical)

For some reason I can't download the song. It just sits and sits. :(
