Great Version of this tune with True on vocals!

I like the edits where True is singing with herself and the ones where Cincy's vocals back her up. Nice job there.

The background mix is really great - you've really got the instruments sitting well in the mix.

And good performances everyone!

:D :) :D :) :D :)

Ummm, speaking of that:

I have two more in mind. I am taking the summer off from my classical stuff and not recording much since the CD is done. I kinda sorta cant because I signed a contract, so no classical for a while.

I am doing a Clinic for High school String Players in Pittsburgh and I need a piece to play with the Kids. I was thinking " Smoke on the Water"!!!!!!!! So, we would do a Karoake version for the Kids ( to jam with) and then a vocal for us. Or I could just midi out one for the kids, but how frikkin lame is that?

Also, I want to do a cover tune of Jean-Luc Pontys New Country. I will arrange it, there will be an extended solo section so ANYONE who wants to take one can do so. This should be fun!!

As for this current project, I need a day or two to get freash ears and Ideas. There is still a LOT we can do to take this to the next level. I am open to all ideas. :)

I finally was able to download Cincy's version! Wow! That is great!!! Cincy, you have some awesome pipes!!! :) :) :) :)

David, kudos for your skills....still would have loves a smokin' fiddle solo!! :D

DavidK,

You have done a great job on the vocals with True and Cincy's work. The vocals are sitting beautifully with the drums and bass levels.

The guitar solo (in my opinion just does not work with the combining of the two versions.) I suggest to either use one or the other, I personally think the re-tracked version fits a whole lot better, which includes the lead up to the solo under the vocals.

Apart from the intro I would use whatever you want to use from the re-tracked guitars and the level of the guitars underneath the vocals needs to sit at the level you have them in the outro/conclusion of the song!.....To me if they are too low in volume they will be better left out!

Where's the fiddle Dave????? :)

I will make you work for your title of the "Edit King"!!!! ;) :p :p :)

Don't hate me....Hold me!!! :D :D :o

I like it...it's turning out pretty cool....more of a smokin country rocker than I had thought. I really like it. Some very tasty leads in it, and it has a lot of depth. Cincy's vox are just great.....They give it a nice touch. I think it would be cool if you could put something together having Cincy and True trade off spots, and do the backing for each other...kind of a bastardized duet. Almost like they are speaking about each other.....

But, I really like this. The punchy bass is way cool. It adds a good thump to the rhythm. And all teh little intricasies(sp) are cool....you hear them ever so subtley. Cool tune. :D

Thanks Dog ;) Great rhythm guitar on this song, I really like it lots!

This turned out great.

I`ve been lurking for some time in the colab thread, I wanted to wait untill it was finsished before posting.

First of all, I think you guys took to the skies.

When I first heard the melody track, I never pictured this result.
Smashing contributions from all parts.

David K, I have to say you do a mean job behind the faders, your proclamation of being a king, will not be disputed on my behalf.

Ms; Great job on the bass.

Dogman; Nice shaft\country style---you tha man

Gort; Great shreddin man, I think all the versions of your axe work has been cool, the last one was no1 though, great work.

Cincy; Extremely cool vox man, you`ve got a very nice nerve in your voice, kinda soul "comitments" style.

True; I`m glad you decided to do this, your voice is bedazzling, and its pure rock`n roll.
Man the Shed must be good vocal booth :D

The guy on banjo; sorry mack forgot your name, kudos to you for bringing in some folk into this jam, very cool indeed.
gave it a very true feel.

The girl who made the song; nice tune, I bet you must be thrilled with the results.

A Big thumbs up for all of you :)

May there be many more

Thanks Mr Nak ;)

I am not sure what you mean about "commitments" is that a band?

Sorry, I am clueless on the country scene...but ty again for the nice words...

Highest charts position: # 47 ( 15,962 songs currently listed in Classical)

Highest charts position in subgenre: # 5 ( 2,659 songs currently listed in Classical > Contemporary)

That is amazing!! There sure are a lot of closet country bumpkins in the classical world!!! :D :D :D

LOL hey tr0000000

I am not sure where you get those chart ranking thingys but cool ;)

I really liek your version as well, you have soulful emotional singing there and I think it works very well in this tune! :D

See above ;)

I read this after my last thanks to your kind words ;)

you rock too True!!! :) :) :)

Overall, I just listened to the cincy kid version and I agree with Gorty and MS who commented that the guitar licks are too "hot" and overpowering some of the vocals etc...

Great song Cindy and great work David!

Final mix of this should be great, cant wait to hear the fiddle ;)

I get the chart ranking of the songs, by clicking on the title of the song. It will show you the ranking.

Thank you Cincy...I was going to mention to David, that in a couple of parts...mainly :42, :58 and 2:26 in my version...that the backups are a bit too upfront, and on one of them, almost yelling out. :D I have retracked my vocals and will re-listen to them tomarrow. Trying to get my timing and volume down better. ;)

Thanks again Cincy, to reply to your post #30!!!! ;)

True :)

Its not even mixed yet.

Right now I am sharing mixes. For the finals, they will be different mixes. Gorty, If you want your solo untouched that can be in One of the versions, the other version will have an edited version. Dont worry about all that, It doesnt matter, its a team production and we "keep the talent happy", we will do whatever you want. :)

For the True version I will turn the band down a bit. I want her up high in the mixing but it will clip. I do that at the end.

Hey DavidK,

Just saying Hi!................... :) :) :)

Gorty :D

I will simply say both versions are shaping up well......fun tunes.... :D

Cincy & True,

Both version are really nicely shaping up. They've come a long way from the days of the MIDI version. :)

Cincy you're vox are really really good man.

True, your'e vox are also very good.

Interesting how the two singers had a different take on the chorus. Cincy with the backup vox and counry twang, True with the draggin' notes with more country blues tone.

You guys are pretty good in this. :)

The licks are really cool. Can't say I dig the licks behind the vox in the verse, tho!

The rhythm note picks around the verses is cool, whoever did that. :)

Bigbubba....thank you ever so much. I am sure I speak for everyone else involved, that your opinion is highly valued. This is a lot of fun to do and I agree about the different takes on the vocals. I think it is the same with everyone. We all perceive things in our own way!! That is what keeps us from dropping dead of boredom!!

Cincy does have an exceptional voice, that I have fell in love with!! The man can croon, that is for sure!! :D

Gorty, has done excellent axe work!!

I am not sure who all has a hand in this. It is a bit confusing.

Did you do some rhythm DOG?

Mshilarious Bass?

Anfontan banjo?

I know davidk is doing the fiddle, arranging, editing, mixing and making us all sound great. :D

Did Brandrum do drums?

Did Bigbubba, metalhead, or anyone else participate?

I don't want to leave anyone out!!

Cindy is the writer of this song too!!

Anyways, thanks Bubba!!! :) :) :) :)
