We need to band together and create a new standard. Hell, I was gonna give PT a try last night with the free version.. it won't even work in XP. "You must have Windows 98se or Higher", what kind of crap is that?

Uh, I don't know of any other big names giving their stuff out for free anymore either. "what about Cubase LE?"...what about it? You can't download it for free, it comes bundled with hardware too.

Protools works just fine for me in Windows. Its all a matter of personal taste!

A ford exploerer will get you to the exact same places as a Mercedes SUV...its just a matter of preference.

oh, well cubase does have a demo doesn't it? I just want to try it out before I jump ship. I'm not spending 500 or more on hardware, and then I hate the DAW.

You can download a demo of M-Powered Protools provided you have an compatible M-Audio device.

That's what I did before I jumped ship on it.

lol where does that leave us people who don't have the hardware.. and the whole reason i'm not buying the hardware.. is because i haven't been able to see if i like the software.. I'm forced to use with it.

oh I have a stand alone unit. I've just been researching pc recording. I have about decided to buy a m-audio delta 44.

then can i officially say I have "pro tools"? lol

you can officially say you a Pro Tools demo. And then decide if you want to go with full version or not.

well doesn't all the m-audio hardware come with it now? Or did I read that incorrectly on the m-audio site.

I've been thinking about switching but I feel my E-mu 1820m is better than say the delta 1010 which is a reason for me not to switch. I personally don't care what the software is. I care about the hardware I'm forced to use with protools. I can see it now me tracking with a ozone with 2 inputs on it when I have 18+ on my regular soundcard or being forced to buy another m-audio card for it to work on my big rig.

it's Pro Tools M-Powered, not LE
and the hardware is just compatible with it....they do not come with it.

While it certainly not true that you NEED pro tools to get the job done, it is true that Pro tools whiners on this site are invariably whining about the pro tools LE side of the equation.

Now pro tools HD 1, 2 or 3?
Lets not be silly.......That blows almost EVERTHING out of the water.
The only thing better ive used is a Radar 24.

But before i get decapitated...ill say this....PT "LE", is woefully underdeveloped.

Please people inform yourselves before you make yourself look like and idiot. There isn't an m-audio device on earth that comes with pro tool m-powered. You have to buy it seperately, period. Now if you purchase an Mbox, 002r, or 002 you'll get pro tools le bundled with it.
