now that i got your attention, it does kinda, but i am having this weird high pitched squeal come out of the monitor outs on my mbox 2. it isnt in the headphone out. it only happens when i open protools. i close the app, it goes away..

I think your pro tools LE sucks. I've been using an mbox2 for 8 months now and I've never had any problems that couldn't be fixed by rebooting.

sheesh, just messing around man.. trying to get a quick reply.... anyway, thanks for your...uuuhh, non help..

No PT fan here! It DOES suck. But, I can list many other reasons why.

yeah, i bought the mbox so that i can say that i have PT. i will continue using vegas. anybody have any idea why i would be getting squeal out of the monitor outs?

Well your title is probably going to do nothing more than start a huge flame war. Not to mention those of us who do use pro tools really won't want to help since the only thing you did in the title was bitch. Good luck with your monitors and have a nice day.

wow, pt users are sensative. sorry guys.. didnt mean to hurt yalls feelings.. vegas sucks too.. feel better?

ProTools people feel that they are all alone in the world. In a way, they are. LOL

You might trying uninstalling PT and installing it again. Weird problems like this will often clear up.

Truthfully, when we tried to run LE at the studio a few years back, we had MANY problems with the install of the hardware/software. Every other time it would boot up, PT would have severe DAE errors and wouldn't open. We finally got frustrated with the whole thing and decided to stick with Sonar for good! If a PT client wants to work with us, they can pay the extra $400 for the OMF output option! ;) Or, they can spend the time to output full length .wavs/.aif files. It is all the same to me. I won't use that software.

Try playing around with your buffer settings. DAE Playback should be around Level 2. Try a higher audio buffer setting. Is Mbox2 still USB power only? Try a different port, or a USB hub (I know it says you shouldn't use one but at least you'll see if the power is clean and digital isn't getting coupled over)

mine doesnt suck at all... check out if you are getting feedback from a mic. maybe the unit's getting old... and dont start a war is right!

well, thanks for the suggestions. wasnt trying to start a war. the mbox 2 is brand new. it is not getting old. now if yall can get over you protools snobbery... ...

I'm an idiot when it comes to doing anything with computers. That being said I had no problems what so ever installing pro tools le, none. In fact its been over a year and a half and I've had zero problems. Runs exactly the same everyday. Cubase on the other hand, at least for me, was a nightmare right from the get go. And I'm betting they'll just bypass your OMF option and find a pro tools studio. IMO its whatever works best, and out of sonar, cubase and pro tools, for me, pro tools works the best. Just wish I hadn't wasted so much money before getting pro tools.

Now see how these stories differ? Really makes no difference does it? So all you haters stop, no reason to bash pro tools at all, you don't see me all over the forums bashing the hell out of cubase and sonar. Different strokes for different folks as they say. There should be nothing but love in this business, not hate. I've never seen a group of hobbiest/professionals bitch more about each others equipment, or whatever, than audio hobbiest/professionals, its like most of you have a huge bug up your ass and the only way to get to it is by bashing someone elses choice in production gear. Yay for Sonar, Yay for Vegas, Yay for Cubase, Yay for Digital Performer, Yay for Traktion, Yay for Pro Tools, Yay for AcidPro, Yay for FruityLoops, Yay for any freaking thing that helps anyone out when it comes to making music. Yay for music!!!

Who in here is being a snob???? You title a thread, bashing what some of us use and you don't expect any of this? Trust me nobody's being a snob about owning pro tools le, and there certainly isn't anything about pro tools le to be snobbish about, its a simple program for recording music. Now if I had a rig that would do 200 tracks at 24/192 with 500 instances of reverb if I wanted, I might brag a little, whether its pro tools or cubase with 6 uad cards.

Again not telling me anything I don't know, I'm asking you, who was being a snob? Because it wasn't me and it wasn't the other two people who said they own pro tools, so I wanna know who's being a snob.

It is my opinion that you are a dumbass.

Jeeze... that's beating her into submission...

So there you have it... she's wrong... you're right... feel better now?

Say uncle...

me, sorry... ......

Don't say your sorry, there's nothing going on here that warrants any kind of apology. I just came on to say originally that the title of this thread may not help you get your question answered. You kinda need someone who owns an mbox to help or see if they've had a similar problem and by saying what they're using sucks you'll pretty much just turn them off. Yeah pro tools le is limiting, pretty much the most limited software out there, so in ways it does kinda suck but I like working with it, and never liked cubase so...you know, whatever. And I was also just trying to point out that nobody here was saying anything snobbish. BTW how's your problem with your monitors? Have you tried changing outelts, or trying to plug your comp into one outlet and your monitors into another. I've had weird monitor problems come and go. Also if you set your monitors up to play itunes when you aren't in ptle you can test them there too. And you said this only happens when you open up the app? Not when you turn on the mbox?
