ok, i realize you cannot use two interface at the same time in protools le. my question is, can i still have two plugged in to the same computer? here is my reasoning. i currently have an mbox 2, i am getting a 002r in the next week or so, i plan to keep my mbox for remote editing and such. anywho, if i have these both plugged in (as mbox 2 is powered via usb), can i just us the mbox 2 as an AD coverter into the spdif in in the 002r? this seems like the cheapest way to add 2 mic pres and channel converters anyway.

well, there are a couple answers to this. One being that I think Pro Tools might be confused if you have both the Mbox and 002 installed. However, it will probably try and mount one or the other when booting up Pro Tools...not both.
Second, like I said above, LE will only read one device at a time...so running S/PDIF through the Mbox and into the computer via USB will do nothing if PT is looking at the 002 as it's hardware device. Now, if you were talking about running S/PDIF out of the Mbox straight into the 002...this will not work either as the Mbox's pres are not set to convert to digital and then go straight out the Digital outputs of the unit. The digital outs only take signal from Pro Tools and send it out.
So in short, no.

does not the spdif out just mirror the analog out? if so, if i turn the mix knob all the way over to monitor from the inputs only, should send the input signal from the preamps directly to the spdif out. for clarity's sake, i will just say i will power the mbox by another computer. i will try it and let you guys know...

Did it work? Anyone know if a projectmix with a firewire410 would work simultaneously, in m-powered?

I know its not "supported" .. that doesn't always mean it won't work...

i know at school we had a few different preamp choices. we had a 192 and some other racks.

you just have to configure the i/o's right, it should be no problem.

HD is different (and the preamps have nothing to do with A/D converters)...LE does not allow the use of multiple units.
