Protools LE....and Roland ???

I have Mbox2 mini of Protools. Everythings works fine with all my M-audio midi controler.

But now, I buy a Roland VB-99. The VB-99 can be use as a midi controler to play soundbank on a computer with a bass via usb cable.

I just want to know if I'm wasting my time trying to make it work with Protools LE......caus I can't make it work....

The VB-99 is excellent for Bass midi. Now with protools, I am not sure. They have their proprietary BS so it requires their "special" hardware. Another reason to hate it.

If you can set a midi input to the VB-99, it should work. You are using the Roland Driver required for midi and the Editor/librarian?

That "hardware" that it only works with is relative to audio interfaces only, not MIDI hardware. You might need to set it up in Setup>MIDI>MIDI Studio (windows) or Setup>MIDI>Audio MIDI Setup (mac).

I stand corrected.

So make sure you have the Roland midi driver installed, set up the VB-99 midi as an input in your DAW and it should work fine.

I use a VG-99 in Sonar to trigger soft synths and the tracking/response is excellent

I manage to make it work by setting up : Setup>MIDI>MIDI Studio

...and found that a option call "bass to midi" was turn off on my VB-99 ...hehe

so I turn it on !

Everything work fine but the accuracy of the midi signal is tough to manage with the bass. I work with East West Symphonic Gold, and Art Vista Piano and It's more accurate to work with my m-audio keyboard Oxygen 61. (even if I'm not really good on piano.)

Playing Midi on Bass is different. If you are having tracking/latency issues, there are several settings on the VB-99 you can change that will help. Look at the "hold control" setting and the "play feel" setting. These can make a big difference. Also, check for the "bend" setting.

You also have to change your playing style when using midi. Notes have to be plucked as clean as possible and the style has to be neat not sloppy. Play with it some more and I think you will get fair results.
