I recently got protools LE with the Mbox to and am having trouble running it on my ibook (1.33 GHz, 40 gigs, and, 512 MB) when i try to play back multiple tracks that i have recorded simultaniously an error message pops up and says something about a system overload aqnd the process is stopped. I have adjusted the max computer usage to the max 85% and am wondering what i need to do to get this to work.

external hardrive?

more RAM?

New Computer:eek:?

any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

i've worked on a 933mhz g4 for like a thousand years now, and while it's not ideal you can get a lot done with it.
so i think the processer is ok on your laptop.

your 2 problems are going to be your hard drive (stock laptop hard drives are slow) and the ram.

hard to say which to start with, probably the ram i think the minimum on ptle is more then 512.

but then go to the hard drive.

definitely more ram, at least to start. especially if you plan on using a lot of plug-ins on a lot of tracks :)

Right, you need to max out the RAM. That might be 1.5 gigs on that iBook, but I'm not sure. You should also increase the buffer.

I was never happy with the original Mbox, primarily because I got those same error messages constantly. I've since moved to a Digi 002R and that has worked flawlessly.
