Proof that Yngwie is the best guitarist in the world....EVER!

Cracks me up every time I see it. Ever see the one with John Petrucci? It's just as funny.

hes not even good, thats the thing. he fucked that stuff up bad.

The way he "overplays" that blues lick (if you can even call it that), turning it into the same old "Yngwie" shit he always plays, is exactly the reason why I don't like him or his playing. He is like a living parody of the excessive 80's shredding. Everything he plays sounds the same, completely devoid of feeling or emotion.

In fairness to the guy though, I saw him live in Dublin last and his technique was excellent on stage - however things got pretty boring towards the end when the solos all started sounding the same. The out of date 80's glam look and silly facial expressions were a bit disturbing and kind of brought the whole gig down a level too. His best stuff is actually the Concerto in Eb minor for electric guitar with the orchestra - completely different to the usual fiddly stuff he does - worth checking out if you like the whole 'neo-classical' thing.

Yngwie wouldn't know the blues if it came up and bit him on the ass.

While I am not really much of a Yngwie fan, stating that he is "devoid of feeling and emotion", and other such silly comments is a sure sign of musical ignorance. For the limited scope of what he can play, it is quite expressive and emotional. But indeed, he is more of less a one tricky pony, and his limited lead style get's boring quick.

He is however an excellent rhythm guitarist, and can write very solid songs.

You guys rip on Yngwie about sounding the same but the last time I seen a blues band, HOLY FUCK! Talk about repetition. Fucking blues guitarists are just as boring. And as far as no soul, most of you fucks can't think fast enough to keep up with what he's playing let alone decide whether there's any emotion or not. And no, I'm no big Malmsteen fan.

Not a fan either, but you gotta have awesome respect for the guy if only for the number of hours of dedicated practice. Soulful?? maybe not but the same thing has been said about George Benson, color notwithstanding. The day you can get folks to prefer to listen to you over Y, is the day you can rip him all you want to.

He's a wanker. Pure cheeze.

And I suppose you think Kirk Hammet isn't a wanker? That guy needs some diversity training. First step, stay the fuck off that wah pedal.

I enjoy Hammett's solos' in the context of Metallica songs. I think he's musical and plays for the song. I like the wah but I agree he could lay off on it. No I wouldn't consider Hammett to be a wanker. Although I wish he'd dump the Floyd Rose. I like his playing much better on a Les Paul. He plays out of tune live with that damn floating bridge.

I'm just trying to point out that the people who say eveything Yngwie does sounds the same, pretty much goes for everyone else as well.
