Just thought I'd post a few teasers. I'll do a formal update at John's after the first of the month.

This is the Control Room rear wall. The angled framing that you see is essentially a mock-up to make sure it fits well, and to line out any "nailers" that will be needed to attach these bass traps to the finished wall.

Here's a floor level view of it. As you can see, their just attached to the wall by clamps, again, this is a mock-up to ensure there's no surprises when it comes time to attach them.

Everything on these partitions is screwed and glued - makes for really nice joints.
I think the key here is to sand the lumber you're working with. It sort of solidifies the fact that your really building cabinets, and not framing walls. Not to mention the fact that you don't want any "splinters" poking through your delicate cloth covering. Sanded 2x's have a tendency to weep sap too, so, they'll get coated with a quality sanding sealer as well.

Oh, and of course remember the old adage: "Cut twice measure once" ... I mean...errr... umm.... Well, actually, that about sums up my approach! :p

Outstanding sir! Try the Special Darks by the way. They're an essential studio tool in my humble opinion.

Yeah?
Heiniken makes a dark beer? I love dark beer, I'll be on the look-out for those!

Aren't you afraid of sanding your framing lumber that it will smooth out the music too much, if you're after something a bit aggresive? Well...I couldn't make that into a stupid joke, but if you're not drinking the Guiness Extra Stout at room temperature, you're missing out on a fine beverage. If you must have it chilled, you might as well then dilute it with a splash of Michelob. Mighty fine tasting too.

(never heard of dark Hinnies!....what a rookie!)

Looking good Michael. Soon you'll be at the point where you FEEL like you've made progress, even though you have all along.

anytime you wanna trade....... :D

yeah..."sheltered" by the roof of a good looking studio going up. Really is starting to come together. I'll be anxious to start seeing the walls go up, as I am sure you are too.

Call me a snob but I have my iPod attached to computer speakers and I also have that Killian's Red Tool but it doesn't make good straight lines ... hmm ...

Yeah, I don't get out much AND I live a sheltered life. :p

Don't whine, we had the plumber come in the middle of the week to clean out the main bathroom's trap (I couldn't get the wrench in there, was too tight).

What did he find?

SAWDUST!

Grrrrrrr.

What did he find?

SAWDUST? What have you been eating frederic?:D Should have had one of those liquid "tools" with it. Hehehehe.

I mean to say "the trap for the shower" in the main bathroom. I typed it fast and just assumed you'd all conclude I was COVERED in sawdust, not INGESTING it.

:D

A lot has to happen first:
The studio needs to be cabled
The electrical rough-in needs to be finshed
The A/C unit needs to be set
The ducting needs to be run
Then the rest of the rockwool insulation can go in
And then... And then... And then...

But, its all gonna happen here pretty quickly!

Don't be sorry, it was funny as hell. However, I decided to clarify just in case someone didn't get it and drew an incorrect assumption :)
