Manning1 I want to take out the guitar then play it as a midi without the guitar while I practise playing my guitar alongside the other instruments in the midi track, I don't want to do any recording just remove one instument.
With Jazzware you can Mute a track. However, key changing means altering the "midi data"
IF your looking for strictly a player that you want to Mute a track, even key change, try freeware from
www.vanbasco.com This program also displays lyrics for MID or KAR type files. It has CD-like player controls, too. You can even create playlists ( groupings of songs )
I use either Jazzware or Vanbasco for playing midi ( mute the guitar track ) and play my guitar.
I use Jazzware for editing midi. This program works on a 486 PC. I use it to Delete a track (usually vocal guides), change an instrument, alter the pan / volume.
I use Jazzware if I am working on a new song, and "loop" the 12 or 16 bars, or drums, midi bass and maybe strings. When I tweek it to become a "keeper", I use Copy and Paste the section to build the song.

I'm looking at going Powertracks in the near future.
Question: Is a 350 mhz PC OK for Midi and maybe 4 audio tracks ?
I work in the record business in TO, but I am stricly a home / hobby musician today. No gigs in years. Some club jams, once in a while.
I haven't done any audio recording on PC yet. I've been using jazzware for over three years, for midi. Midi is my band
I have done some 4 track cassette recordings, with no drums. So, with midi, I have added the opportunity to include drums, and others instruments to my songs, and others I like to play. With Powertracks I might be able to achieve what I wanted to do for the last 25 years.
