Hi,
i have a M-audio profire610,
everything is fine with it,
but i think the output sound and the headphones preamps are weak.
i want to know if it is my problem or something is wrong with this interface.
help me to know.

i could say the units I've ran are less powerful than when monitoring with speakers or a stereo hifi or car stereo... they all seem "safer" for you ear levels, headphone levels.

if thats what you mean. and most the preamps in stock interfaces of the few I've tried require turning the volume up 80% or so....however an outboard pre like the ISA One was at 20% or something, and a JoeMeek V3 is much higher settings but more than enough for the input.

thats my two cents.

come to think of it , Dynamic mics Shure57 have lower output and require turning the volume up too, so that might be what your refering to.

i think you mean with all of the interfaces we work we should turn the output lever higher like 4.5 ,is it right ?

yes, the volume seems to be less on the headphone amps and outputs, but only that the knob needs to be turned up past 50% or more...mine are often 80% to 100% full volume, and other software gain stages finish the job.

but the ISA One preamp and maybe a Condenser mic doesn't need but 20% volume or even use the inteface preamp as a pad at minimum.

when you posted this it confirmed more, the same I had witnessed, and so I now assume this is normal for these interfaces. maybe industry standard?

yes i think so,
but one thing: when i record bass guitar the sound that we get is too weak, even if i turn all the volumes 100% high.i think we should use an independent pre-amp ,what you think ?

yes you'd definitely get your volume, easily....$150 to $30,000 for a preamp ...

my next purchase is another preamp. actually a good channel strip is fun, but a preamp for some extra gain is common.
