Professor Wolff is an economist with some clear opinions on the current trajectory of the US economy.
I was listening to one of his Youtube segments on the current administration's agenda and I was struck by the melodic quality in his voice.
I thought, given the subject matter, that it might go well with a dystopian type of backing track

Does it work at all, or just kind of schmezzole?

Need to bring up his level a bit.

He does indeed have a very rhythmic speaking voice. Ironically a lot of what he says makes sense too.
But I digress. Different thread.

Back on topic. It works, just need to bring him up a tiny bit.

Ha - I just finished a piece where I inserted a political speech by Jennifer Lawrence regarding the corruption of U.S. electoral process via a need for huge dollars. I agree the vocal needs to come up a nudge.

Doc Saul (if you remember him from HRP) introduced me to Professor Wolff. He's a pragmatic socialist, focusing on working for change within a capitalistic framework. His model for employee/worker owned businesses is a proven success.

The concept of this works. But the kick is too loud and bumpy/thumpy in my Mackie headphones. And I kept thinking that if a key phrase or concept (he's got a lot of them) was sampled/repeated - it might be more thematic that way. <--- just first impression thinking out loud.

I've been listening and reading Wolff for about 20 years. Along with Chomsky - he's one of those that inspired me to really think for myself - and outside the box. His "Capitalism Hits the Fan" talk waaaay back was a game changer for me.

Yep bumped him 2db, sits better now. Thanks RFR
I love the rock sound of the backing track!
Wow thanks OSHC

Yeah I do remember drstawl. From what I've heard of Professor Wolff, he seems to make a lot of sense

Yeah I left kick with some presence as there's no bass track so mix was a bit thin without it. I know what you mean about repeating a key phrase but I didn't want to cut it up too much and lose the message, although I did take a liberty with his 'let me repeat that' phrase. Cheers PM

I like the idea, but it really cries out for a "song" portion. The speech part gets lost, and honestly any message gets buried. You could do a verse/ speech / verse / speech setup, but for me just putting music behind his rant doesn't get it. Use the speech in place of a bridge or chorus. Or maybe sing a bridge or chorus and use the speech for the verses.

Short snippets of key phrases would work best.

Kind of like Cult of Personality, but with more speech sections.
