What do I need if I can to make cd labels that look like what you get in the store? Some type of printer?

You can also check out the Bravo , Primera and Copy Pro........they all have websites.

You might be better off looking for someone who can do 4 color artwork. Minimum order are about 100 pc and there is a charge for set-up and color separations depending how you give them the art work. The quality is also a big step up.
If your trying to print on the jewel box itself then.......I’m not aware of anyone doing this .

At Office Depot they have the Epson 900 printers that are designed specifically to work with printable CDs.
Only $150US the last time I looked.
Printable CDs are cheap, too...
(Anyone notice that printers that print directly on CDs/DVDs are almost NEVER advertised???? Guess they think that most people who buy them will be using them to make pirate disks....)

With that Epson 900 I can stick a cd in it and it will print it on the cd?

These guys do replication at a reasonable rate... and I REALLY love the qualilty I've seen (personally).
It's also a good idea when starting out to outsource some of these types of tasks ... it serves 2 purposes:
1) It frees up your time to persue other more important aspects of your business (like getting customers through your door)
2) The costs can be incorporated right into the cost of your product...

I have a Bravo Primera DVD/CD duplicator/printer. It cost $1800 and the ink is about $35 each. What I like is the "set-it and forget it" automation feature. With a kiosk, you can make 50 at a time in a very short time. You need to have both Firwire 1394 and USB on your computer. Although it is great for short runs and the color is pretty sharp, it still doesn't replace the look and feel of pro quality cd's.
