Hey, first post here, just want some input on the overall mix and quality of my demo song, and I'm wondering what can be improved.

get some posts under your hat then you can post a link

the is a forum called the mp3 clinic especially for this, if you participate you get some good advice

welcome to the site carnie, theres quite a few guys who can help in this genre :)

also if you can host it in a format other than youtube you'll get more precise advice...youtubes compression can take a lot out of a track

look for something that hosts at a higher bit rate like dropbox or soundcloud etc, leave youtube for the fans ;)
 
Also, youtube isn't the greatest thing to share songs/files with. Look into getting a soundcloud account or something that allows you to choose the format- youtube automatically smashes the hell out of anything you upload there...
 
yeah the 10 post rule is pretty dumb


keeps the spammers out
