this is my first time posting on here.
i just wanted to give my two cents.
i use professional drum loops...
and as far as editing the time signatures themselves, you can easily do that manually. i use cool edit but you can use any program. you just have to actually go in a 4/4 and delete any one beat of yoru choice to make it a 7/8 or whatever you want.

as far as tempo...the more you manipulate a sound file, the more of the original signal gets lost. so if you try stretching the tempo too much it will take away from the quality of the sound. you can perhaps stretch the tempo slightly, but not dramatically. the answer t this is just to obtain the drum loops in different tempos. either, make sure that the Drum CD has different sample rates and tempos, or make your own drum loops by asking a (talented and skilled) drummer friend to record some of his drum loops in different tempos for you. as long as you do the set up and recording yoru drummer firend should be more than willing.
some good professional loop companies are big fish audio and sony loops...as well as akai.
