ProCo Rat.... TS9 tube screamer...etc..

I use/have a early 80's Rat that I just think is fantastic. Love it to death. I'd consider getting another one as a backup, and am wondering how different the reissues are over the older ones...or the Rat2 for that matter. Big differences? I figure Ebay is the route to go.

Also... how 'bout the Ibanez tube screamer? Think I'd enjoy one of those after being a Rat fan for so long??

I'm not looking for heavy metal, but I get a good "wall o Marshall" sound thru a couple little amps with the Rat, not to mention a nice overdriven Fender sound too.

And...what's all the hub-bub with these Keeley (sp?) mods? Are they as fantastic as doubling the price of these little stompers? I suppose a cool LED is worth a couple pazootas..

The tube screamer isn't a distortion box like the rat or the DS-1. It is more like an overdrive pedal. You use it to push an amp with not quite enough gain over the edge.
