I'm just getting into some hard disk recording and am looking to buy a new computer. I need to know if there's any real evidence of some chips (PII, KMD, Celeron)are better or worse than others for hard disk recording.

Any advice, opinions is appreciated ASAP. Please back up your opinions a bit... :)

Thanks!

The question is not what is best. You gotta start by asking, "Will it work at all?", with the particular soundcard you are using.
The Layla soundcard (according to Event electronice) wont work with the amd.. or the pIII, gotta have a PII..
If you wanna record, dont buy a ready mad compaq at Circiut City... Not if you want a serious system. The most importand things are speed, ram, and Hard drive speed.. Lots of these three will do the job.. Your better off building a custom system and putting the extra money into ram before you buy a bundle with a 'free printer' or scanner...
