i see alot of people r haveing problems with cakewalk is it really that bad because ive been thinking about geting it

First of all, using "," and "." once in a while wouldn't kill you, and would make your post much easier to read.

There is no program called Cakewalk. Cakewalk is a company. I assume you mean Sonar?
Digital audio is still a relatively challanging application for a computer. Getting the program, sound card, and computer all co-operating together and operating at peak performance takes a little work. In this sense, Sonar is probably no better or worse than any other program.
As for ease of use of the program itself, I believe it is one of the easiest to use muti-track recording programs available.
Bottom line, computer recording is not a tape recorder. You don't simply plug it in and push the record button. However, once you optimize everything and get it all working well together, it does offer a lot more options and capability than analog methods.
If you are somewhat computer literate and have some patience, I say go for it. And remember, you always have all of us here to help you out.

From what i've seen (I've never played around with an MR8 in any way), the only connection which the MR8 has to the computer is via USB and I'm guessing that this is for coping files like from a USB Memory Key. If via USB you can hear audio real time, you MIGHT be able to use it as a mixer, other than that probably not.
Sound Cards.... Depending on what you want to record and how many tracks at one time will really decide what sound card you can use. Some guys here were using Sound Blasters until recently. Personally I use an Edirol Da-2496.. but it all does come down to the number of simultaneous inputs you require.

Just noticed that the MR8 has a S/PDIF out... so if your computer sound card has one of these you might be able to use it as a real time mixer.. ie 4 inputs down to 2 (one stereo signal).

If you got Home Studio or Sonar, depending on your set up and sound card, you could program your drums from within say Home Studio and then have them played on an external source.. or if you want, HS has it's own internal Sound Canvas which will play the MIDI sounds for you.
