I mixed down a song to a stereo wave file and then attempted to convert it to mp3.
This is what I got.

"Error Can't open the specified file"

So I was unable to make the mp3. I've never had this happen before. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

I'm not sure if this is the problem but my only advice would be to make sure you have your playback settings at 16 bits. Otherwise whatever is trying to read the wave file probably won't be able to. I had this problem when mixing down a fews songs and having no clue as to why I couldn't burn them to a cd.

Thanks for the reply 4-Man. I checked everyting more times than I can remember. :)

I appologize in advance for this annoying advice, but...

The MP3 encoder bundled with n-Track (Bladenc) really sucks. Try something based on LAME (or use LAME itself).

Slackmaster 2000

Actually, I don't even think Blade encoder is included with N-Track anymore. You have to do a search for your own encoder.

I use LAME, myself...

No apologies needed Slack, that's a good piece of information. I guess I'll go do a search for LAME. Thanks.

Forgive my utter and complete lack of knowledge with n-track
(or perhaps computer in general), but I have as of yet been unable to find how to convert/mix down an MP3. Is this because, as you've said, the encoder no longer comes with ntrack?

I have never had any problems with the n-track encoder. I do remember getting that error once but that was because I moved the wav file to another folder before I clicked "converted to mp3" :D

One of the best FREE file converters out there is the dBpowerAMP Music Converter located right here.

Second one on the page. You just right click any mp3 or wav file and convert it to MP3 or Wav via the shell extension that is available on the right-click after installing the program.
