For a while I had a Lexicon mx200 hooked up to my motu traveler via spdif, everything worked fine but I found the lexicon to be limited in tweakability to a point of being useless. I sold it and got an MPX 500, which I'm very pleased with. It's hooked up exactly the same way as the mx200 and works awesome however, when I turn off the Lexicon I get a constant, horrible clipping from my spdif inputs. Is it unreasonable to assume I shouldn't have to mute the spdif whenever I don't have the Lexicon running?

I Kinda neglected to mention that this is only the case when something is coming through another input i.e. I'm getting a spdif signal when the lexicon is off.

It sounds like the MOTU and the MPX 500 negotiated clock source as the Lexicon during use...
Turning off the Lexicon leaves the MOTU without its configured digital clock source and that will result in the clicks and pops.

I don't have either of thses units so this is just a guesstimate, but the symptoms are the same for when any digital clock source gets mismatched.

You can either continue muting the Lexicon or perhaps, after switching it off, be sure to set the MOTO clock to Internal...

As far as I can tell the clocking should be synched, I've got the traveler set as internal 44khz and the lexicon recieving 44khz via spdif, neither of which change when I turn the other unit off. Any other possible culprits?
