I have recently, with all your help, bought a computer for recording music. I am having intermittent problems with, I believe my delta 66 soundcard. When I try to playback a recording, it plays, with no audio, for a second and stops. On the speakers you hear a steady tick-tick tick sound. When I turn the computer off, and restart it, it sometimes fixes it. Here is my set up. Any insight will be greatly appreciated! Walter

Assuming you have installed the Delta 66 correctly, it could be a number of things. You may have a conflict in your computers resources. From some things I've heard the Delta dosen't like to share IRQ's. You may have to move your card to another PCI slot. You also want to make sure if you have two sound cards installed that your computer is configured to accept only the Delta card for recording and for playback. I know this sounds silly, but I've seen it happen before.

You can also check the Patchbay/Router page in the Delta Control Panel. Make sure the H/W out 1/2 is set to Monitor Mixer and the H/W out 3/4 is set to Wav out 3/4. Also look to make sure that onthe Monitor Mixer page that your mute, solo and faders are in the right postions.

Other than that you may need some more advice from other quarters. Hope this helps!

I checked the soundcard configuration and delta panel for those 2 ideas. They are both set right. Moving the soundcard is over my head I think, so I am heading towards bring it into the shop. Thanks toonsmith! Walter

Moving the card is very simple, Walter.

Simply go to your start menu, select "Control Panel" then select "Add/Remove Hardware". Then choose your Delta card from the list of Hardware, and click "Remove". If it asks you anything, choose "Remove Permanently" because you're switching the PCI slot.

After you've removed the drivers Windows will not recognize the card. Shut down your PC, and unplug the power. Open the computer case, and touch something metal to ground any static electricity you may have on you. Remove the screw holding the Delta card in the PCI slot, and remove the card. Simply move the card to a different PCI slot that is vacant, and start the PC up. Install the drivers from the disc, and test it out.

If it doesn't work, try another slot.

That I can do. Thanks for the easy to follow instructions Brian! Walter

Thank You Guys!!! It worked and is running fine. Can I now put out a shingle that says computer tech for hire? HA

Yeah it's that simple. Glad to hear everything is fine now. I finally answered a question here that helped. I was getting tired of asking questions all the time!
