Problems with laptop power-up

Well, I got my nice (free) G3 PowerMac laptop, but my friend (who's given it to me) has told me that it's sometimes a bit reluctant to power up.

This is indeed the case. Anybody familiar with this little operational quirk and what to do about it, or should I just get the machine serviced?

Just get the machine serviced. No machine should have trouble powering up, that needs to be fixed.

If you got it for free, then you probably won't ming paying a little to get it working properly =)

It's probably the battery, I've had two Macs give me start up problems in the past and it's been a bad battery.

BTW, what exactly is the laptop doing? (or not doing)
