I am having a problem with Cool Edit Pro in multi-track mode. Whenever I record something on track one and I want to play it back when I'm recording track two, it always seems to re-record track one onto track two. Does this happen to anyone else? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

The problem is most likely in your audio/multimedia control panel. You need to be sure that the recording device is set to line-in and not to wave and line-in. If that doesn't do the trick, I would be surprised.

I would ask what the sound card is? This more than anything will tell us what we need to do to help you. If, for instance, it's a sound blaster live it may have the feature called "record what you hear" enabled. Check for that. As for the multimedia control that is in the Control Panel and is simply called MultiMedia. Doubleclick the icon and you will see what mastahnke is talking about.

Good luck.

this could easily be a mixer problem as well... maybe you should describe your entire setup to us.

I have a M Audio Delta 44 soundcard. I have my Behringer Eurorack MX 1604A mixer going from the main output of the mixer into the first input of the Delta 44 break out box.

Describe the track setup then. How are you selecting the recording source? Be detailed in what you have selected for each. Track one, source, playback. Track two source, playback. And what tracks are set for recording. etc.. Is there anything in the Delta manula that talks about signal routing?

I am having some other troubles, whenever I record something in multi track mode, it doesn't even show up now but when I take the track I recorded in multi track to standard mode, it plays back but with very low volume, I had to turn my speakers all the way up. On all the mixer controls I turned up everything to the highest volume on everything and still. I read the manual and followed everything step by step on how to record. Ever since I installed this card a couple days ago, I've been having endless problems. The card I have is a M Audio Delta 44. I setup everything properly, there were no errors or anything.

And to DS_Sultan, there is a little part in the Delta 44 manual about patchbay / router.

Alright then. let's be specific. If your turning everything up on all the mixers you have then the signal is not coming from where you think it is. Or, you missed something. Sounds akin to using the line in with a mic level device. The sound source is just too low to give you a good responce.

White Ice. Email me directly and we can go into detail or have a live chat about your setup. It will be alot faster for you.

We are having a live chat this Sunday, April Fools Day at 2:00 PM EST US Time. If that works for you show up then and we can go over the setup in detail.

i dont know if anyone answered it already, but i know exactly what your problem is.

Go to the little volume control thing. Click options, then properties and check the box that say recording. there will be a list under the box for which ones u want to open up, click them all. press ok
then you will have a list of controls, yours is probably selected to stereo mixer, mono mixer or something that has to do with inside the comp. Make sure you select line in or mic (which ever one u are using) then try. Hope i helped

I'm not quite sure you read the question kikling.

It's not that recording is the issue for Whyte Ice, but that it is recording everything again on a new track. What needs to happen is track one records, then track one is in playback mode while track two is recorded. And they are seperate tracks!

I tried emailing you DS_Sultan but I am not sure if you received it.

You can e-mail me at azwwp@hotmail.com or kudouh@foofighters.com .
