Problem with Whammy/Bridge on new strat.

I just got my Fender American Texas Special Fat Strat on monday. It is used, but in mint condition. Bought it from a store in New Jersey. There is something wrong with them whammy bar and bridge. When I try to screw in the whammy. IT won't go in except at an angle. IT is really wierd and kinda tight to screw in. My old Mexican strat wasn't like this. Also, the bridge seems to not be positioned right. IT seems a little back, where I can see a small amount of the trem cavity...like 2 cm or something. Maybe I will take some pictures.
Any ideas?

You can tighten up the bridge w/ the spring screws underneath. My trem bar only went in at an angle on mine, and it was no problem. Do both guitars have the same model of bridge. Fender has used a couple of different ones.
