problem with Sjoko

I am about to go totally ballistic about this and am asking for help.

I responded to Sjoko's offer (on this forum) to master songs for a low price. I originally sent him my stuff more than six months ago. He promptly cashed my checks for more than $200.

Since then, it has been one excuse after another, always apologetic. He was sick, he had family things; fine, I understand. He rented out his studio and it took longer than he expected to get back in; I understand this a lot less. Now I see him posting songs on the MP3 clinic from recording sessions of his model/singer Uru. Still nothing.

I have e-mailed and phoned him several times. Back in December he told me he was almost done. The last time I got him on the phone he promised for the third time to get to my stuff first. I also asked him to promise me that if there were any more delays that he communicate with me and tell me what's going on. That was a few weeks ago. Since then, he has failed to return two additional e-mails and two additional phone calls.

I have exhibited the patience of Job with this guy and he has demonstrated no integrity at all. I am a fucking lawyer; my firm even has an office in California. There are all sorts of things that I know how to do, and it won't cost me anything to do them. I am about to attack him and his little studio with, figuratively speaking, nuclear weapons. I hate the prospect of doing this but I am not going to be taken advantage of any further.

I hope that pressure/mediation from people on this site will make this unnecessary. I give it one week.

Your a lawyer and you paid a studio in advance? You should know better than that. You pay when you get the product. Maybe a small down payment before hand.

Musicians and engineers are like construction contractors. They are usually in that business because nobody else will hire them. Just be thankfull there isnt a huge whole in your ceiling and plastic everywhere.

I cant comment on sjoko's ethics, dont know him.

I was naive, I know, thinking that this couldn't happen since we were both part of a community. And it seemed like a great opportunity and Sjoko seemed so trustworthy.

I used to be a cynical bastard but I gave that up.

You are a naive and optimistic New York lawyer? I'm not sure who should be more ashamed, the lawyers or the New Yorkers ;)

He's a lawyer and he's calling Sjoko a crook ?!?!!?!?

Just kidding slim ...just kidding.....

Am I dreaming? If I recall this happened before concerning the special offer, and it was resolved If I remember correctly. There was some mud slinging going on in the thread and I hope not to see it happen all over. Is slim the only one left hanging on the one time offer on mastering from sjoko2? Use the search function to weed through all the rhetoric posted previously on this subject. It might be good as a refresher.

Peace,
Dennis

hehe ;)

See? This is why I don't tell musicians that I'm lawyer!;)

You should have somebody drop some papers on him. He might wise up real quick and get it done. Who knows?

Is this a crosspost????

Why am I seeing this in 2 places... As much as I support Slim getting things straight with SJOKO..... I frown upon crossposting...

Joe

Yes....crossposting does suck...

...so does this situation. I hope you resolve it.

Good luck...
