hello
I've bought a Alesis multimix 16 Firewire, and installed it exactly following the instructions from the manual and the latest drivers from the internet. The computer recognizes the multimix and all the drivers properly. But then the following problem occures:
You have to set the multimix to your default audio device. So i went to control panel> sound and audio devices > the audio tab. There i set the multimix for playback sound and record sound, and at the tab voice, i set the multimix for playback voice and record voice. But then my computers doesn't play any sound from my speakers (and the volume from windows is still turned up), and when i only turn the playback sound back to my onboard soundcart i do get sound out of my speakers.
i think this is the root of the problem, because when i start recording, and i talk into the mic (with has a normal signal output from the mixer) i don't hear the sound back through the speakers. And then when i start to record a sound i get normal readings from recording sounds (i don't get such a flatline but shapes normally to the input i gave it). So the program does record something! but when i want to play it back, i don't get any sound out of it. normal mp3's and windows sounds work, but the recorded track doesn't give any sound. And when i put the playback sound to the multimix i get no sound at all (not from windows and not from the recorded track)
i run a pc with: AMD 3800+, 1024MB ram, ATI XT1300, windows XP Service pack 2.
youre help would be highly appreciated!
