Problem with Panasonic DAT recorder

I just bought a Panasonic SV-3500 Dat player to ease my mixdowns. I'm used to reel to reel so DAT is new to me. It's been a great machine up until tonight. I ran some tape on it recording a mixdown of a 3 minute song. I was recording in absolute time. Once I pressed stop once the song was finished. I went to press rewind. Instead it didnt rewind, it just showed up blank and refused to go back and play what I had recorded, I searched all through the DAT and couldn't find what I had recorded. I kept trying to record things and it kept doing the same thing for each even in counter time. Please let me know what I can do to alleviate this problem

Call Panasonic Tech support. Even though they don't make DATs anymore, they still have a network of service centers that will work on them.
