Hi everyone, I'm having a lot of troubles with mixing/mastering my vocals. I tried almost everything and yet they still don't sound like they fit in the song. I'm not sure what the problem could be so i decided to upload a sample of a cover I'm working on. I'm using adobe audition for recording/mixing/mastering my tracks.

The weird thing is that the other instrument's I've recorded sound good in my opinion, I just can't get the vocals down.

Thanks in advance,
Niek

Yes: They are weak in an otherwise perfect mix.
I would boost the vocals and compress them.
Also, go into the reverb setting and make sure that the vocals are panned to 100%.
Another way would be to bring everything else down then boost the whole lot.
Nice singing, by the way.

Thanks for your quick reply Jim. I did everything just as you said, I boosted the vocal track and added a compressor. I used the following settings:

Thresh: -2,5 db
Gain: 3,5 db
rato: 2.5:1
attack: 3.0 ms
release: 200 ms

Heres how it sounds:

In my opinion it isnt as good as it could be. Do you have any other suggestions?

I'd make the threshold higher - I think I use around -30 db. Then adjust output gain if needed.

The problem isn't with the mixing, it's the vocal take. You aren't projecting enough.
