Problem with Firewire Solo - Help Please

I am a complete newbie with computer hardware. I just got a M-Audio FireWire Solo that I'm using with Garageband. I'm trying to set it up so i can hear it play through the computer speakers? When I play through the interface, the computer system's input fader jumps up, so I assume that the computer is registering it. However, Garageband's input fader doesn't move. How do I set this up?

I assume what you are wanting to do is have the Solo connected to record, yet have the audio play through the Mac's internal speakers while working in Garageband. If this is the case:

Open Garageband
Under the Garageband menu, click Preferences
Highlight the Audio/Midi tab
Set Audio Output to Built-in Audio
Set Audio Input to Firewire Solo
