i have a computer that has built in sound ...
its has line in, mic, and speaker out
the problem i have heard that when you record like for example
a song but you use a mixer and a prog like cakewalk pro or sonar, is it likey it needs to go from built in sound line in to the output of a mixer then from mixer back to the built in sound to ???
is it better to get a real sound card to do this stuff??
thanks concernd

Yes a better sound card is....well....better.

You should post in the newbees forum. That is the place for a basic question like this.

You should be able to run your instruments/mics into your mixer and from there into the line-in of your existing soundcard. You don't need a better soundcard for that capability, just for quality.

in my mastering article and several other articles ive done for newbies in the newbies section you will see some tips for getting
decent sound , or anyway better sound out of on board sound chips. read point 5 in the mastering article.
my best advice though is consider a future sound card upgrade.
