After having read extensively great reviews of the E-MU 1820, I decided to upgrade my system with this soundcard.
However, after having tried it with both a dynamic (SM-57 + SM-58) and compressor mic (phantom powered) the noise it produces is just way to horrible for me to even consider working with what’s recorded. With the dynamic mic, when the gain is very low, I get practically no noise, but I get practically none of the sound I want to record. For the condenser mic, if I tune up the gain knob even just a little, then the noise just becomes horribly high.
Any suggestions on how to deal with that? Ideas on how to fix it?
